We strongly recommend not adding classes manually if your school used Clever or ClassLink for rostering last year.
Here’s why:
Your district can re-enable the sync between Happy Numbers and Clever/ClassLink at any time. When that happens, we are required to load class and student data directly from the district’s server. This creates a new set of classes and students — replacing anything you added manually.
What Will Happen If Sync Is Re-enabled?
All manually added classes and students will be deleted.
Any progress associated with those students will be lost.
It’s not possible to merge manually added students with those imported from Clever or ClassLink.
What You Should Do
Check with your school or district admin to confirm whether Clever or ClassLink will be used this year.
If yes — do not add classes manually.
Wait for the sync to ensure student data is preserved and progress is tracked correctly.
Why This Happens
Clever and ClassLink provide student and class data directly from the district. When we sync, we must follow what the district provides — and there’s no way to combine that with manually created data.
This means:
A manually added student named “Jordan Smith” will not match a synced student named “Jordan Smith” if their IDs differ.
Each version will be treated as a separate student, with no way to transfer or preserve progress.
