All students take the Happy Numbers Placement Test upon entering the Happy Numbers instructional program (except PK students at the beginning of the year). The results are used to determine a student’s readiness for mathematics instruction on grade-level skills and concepts. It also helps place the student at the appropriate starting point in the Happy Numbers curriculum.  

The Placement Test is adaptive, consists of 20 multiple-choice items for each grade level, and covers the skills and concepts associated with the Happy Numbers curriculum for the previous grade level.

Depending on when in the school year students take the Placement Test, they can be placed at different points in the curriculum. You can see these placement maps using the links below:
